Tips for Taking Better Black & White Pictures

- Use natural lighting if possible
- When taking portraits, wear light or dark colored clothing in solid colors (patterns can be distracting)
- Use shadows to create interest
- Put an adult-size hat on a child for a cute portrait
- Try putting kids in overalls with no shirt underneath for a cute portrait
- Put a child in adult-size shoes for a cute portrait
- Photograph fingers and toes
- Zoom in close when taking portraits, backgrounds can be distracting
- Capture all facial expressions... not only smiles
