Go early in the morning and look throughout the store, not just in the area where things are usually sold. Most stores have a clearance area.

In the Kitchen:
Buy large amounts of meat on sale and freeze them. Prepare some of it like browning ground beef and shredded chicken and freeze it that way so you can save time during the week night when you have very little time.

Organization:
I keep Ziploc bags in my closet for greeting cards, etc. that my kids get throughout the year. When the year is over, I put them in their Rubbermaid containers with the other arts and crafts and I don't have misc. cards all over the house in 10 different areas.
