Work at Home Ideas: Employment Agent
How many moms do you know who have marketable skills and would love to work part-time? Do you like to make new contacts and help people out? Help them and help yourself by starting an agency for moms looking for part-time work. The jobs you help them find can range from top-level professions to child care. The people interested in working part time supply you with their current resume, and you would contact local businesses or employers with your list of prospective employees. Your service usually costs nothing to the moms who list their resume. You will charge businesses who hire your employees a referral fee (do some investigating to see what is acceptable in your area). Not interested in working with businesses? Start a child care referral service, building up a database of moms and those interested in providing child care.
Startup Costs: $50-$500 for basic office supplies: business cards, fax machines, paper, etc.
Training Needed: No training necessary -- just a network of people you can contact, and an outgoing personality.
Marketing: Word of mouth is a great way to get started. Let friends and family know of your new business venture, and ask them if they know of any prospective clients. Once you have compiled a database of clients 15-20, you can begin to approach businesses who may be interested in hiring. Take your clients' skills into consideration when looking for businesses to contact. You may also want to keep abreast of the want ads in your area, to keep current on which businesses regularly advertise for help wanted.
