Muffin Tin Monday: Green Shamrocks

March 14, 2011 by Susie Chadwick 7 Comments

It’s Muffin Tin Monday again!  After a few weeks, my daughter is started to look forward to Muffin Tin Meals.  We took last week off from our color themes to do a birthday muffin tin meal for her, so doing Green this week lined up with St. Patrick’s Day!  I have a mini shamrock cookie cutter, so I used that to make some fun shapes for our green/St. Patrick’s Day muffin tin meal.

I bought these mini shaped cookie cutters in India, but there are similar mini cookie cutters available at Amazon.com.  I used the shamrock shape on a green apple, some toast, and a green bell pepper.  I didn’t end up serving the green orange (it’s called a mosambi) shown here, because it wasn’t very good.

So, for our Green Shamrock muffin tin meal, I served:

  • shamrock-shaped green apple pieces
  • gold-wrapped candy, like we’ve been using in our Leprechaun hunts
  • broccoli
  • shamrock-shaped green bell pepper
  • spreadable cheese to dip the veggies in
  • shamrock-shaped toast

After lunch, we continued our St. Patrick’s Day theme and used the rest of the bell pepper to make green pepper shamrock paintings.

Love it! I saw another recipe lately, using green peppers as shamrocks. My kid won’t eat them, and I hate peppers of all sorts. But it looks cute and perfect for St. Patty’s day, just like your MTM!

Love this Idea! Can somebody tell me where to get the little cookie cutters? I have a set of them from Pampered Chef but there are only 8 in there and I would like more! Thanks
