This christmas Cookie recipe comes from my grandmother. I grew up eating them, my mom still makes them and I also make them every year. It wouldn't be Christmas without them. They're super-simple, and only have a few simple ingredients, most of which I typically always have on hand. I've seen them called mexican Wedding cakes, Russian Tea Cakes, Snowball cookies, Butterballs and Pecan Dainties.
Powdered Sugar Dainties Ingredients:
- 1 C. (two sticks) butter, softened
- 2 C. all-purpose flour
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 C. chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine all the ingredients above to make a dough. Roll the dough into 1″ balls. Place on a cookie sheet, and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the balls start to become golden brown. Remove from the oven. Once cool enough to touch but still warm, roll the balls in powdered sugar. Allow to cool completely.
