I got Rack-O game for my birthday. It says ages 8+, but of course my 4 year old wanted to play it. Play a game where you practice putting numbers in the right order? Sounds great!
The Rack-O game comes with four racks that each hold ten cards. I labeled the racks “1-10” “11-20” etc. Then, I sorted out the cards with numbers 1-40 and we set to work putting them in order on the racks. We took turns picking a card and putting it in the correct slot, or finding a card for a specific slot. I thought Maggie would get bored very quickly, but she was determined to finish. I helped her by asking questions like “What comes before the 8?” and “Is that number is bigger or smaller than 23?”
She’s struggled moving beyond number 29 in her counting, so this game was great for reinforcing the idea of groups of tens and the repeating pattern of numbers. And, it was fun!
