Dollar Store Craft/Gift Idea: Glass Hurricane Candle Holder

December 14, 2010 by Amy Arndt Leave a Comment

Here is a gift idea that is super easy to make and ONLY cost $3.00 and 15 minutes to make.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 glass hurricane vase
  • 1 glass taper candle holder
  • 1 white skinny candle in holder
  • Hot glue gun – Already had at home
  • Decorations/Ribbon – optional – Reused decorations I already had

First remove the tags from the vase, candle holder and white candle. Now take the candlestick holder, put some hot glue around the top rim, and place the hurricane on top of it. Be sure to look down into the hurricane vase to be sure it’s centered and apply light pressure for a few minutes to make sure it holds.

Next, take your white skinny candle, put some hot glue on the bottom of it and stick it in the hurricane. Again apply light pressure for a few minutes to make sure it holds.

Finally, if you want to, you can use decorations in between the candle and the hurricane.

*What I love best about this gift is that the recipient can use it all year long by changing out the greens, red potpourri and gold ribbon (that I used in the first picture) for whatever season or holiday they are wanting to use it for. I actually ended up making another one of these and putting them on top of our fireplace mantel.
