My sister-in-law and I took on a challenging diy project last Saturday: Come up with the PERFECT beerita recipe. We'd seen several recipes posted online, but all of them were slightly different. Which one was the best? It took a lot of taste-testing and trying different variations (tough work), but I think we landed on the perfect mix. Plus, they're SO easy! Here is our favorite version:
The Perfect Beerita Recipe
- One 12-oz. container limeade
- Two 12-oz. beers (any kind)
- 12 oz. tequila (just fill the empty limeade container to measure)
- 12 oz. Sprite
- 1 C. ice
Notes from the Mixologists: The first beerita recipe we tried called for only one beer. It was good, but the version we made with two beers was even better. I really thought these would taste “beery” — but they didn't. The beer offsets the tartness from the limeade, which is the predominant flavor. We also saw versions of beerita recipes without the Sprite, but we liked the fizz that it added to the drink. The only thing our drinks were lacking was the garnish. They'd be great with a ring of coarse salt around the edge of the glass and a slice of lime.
