Hosting a Holiday Party with Kids? Check Out Oriental Trading!

November 19, 2010 by Susie Chadwick Leave a Comment

Are you hosting a holiday gathering involving children? Holiday parties can be stressful enough on the host, and having bored kids can only add to that. One solution to that is to plan an activity, games, or crafts to keep the kids busy while the meal preparations are underway.

We have used Oriental Trading to provide crafts and activities for several of our past holiday gatherings. They have all sorts of crafts for every holiday and occasion, and for every skill level.

Here is a foam Thanksgiving turkey placemat from Oriental Trading. We made these with all the kids in the family while Thanksgiving dinner was cooking.

We also did these gingerbread house foam crafts at a Christmas gathering last year. These were a little more time consuming and required adult assistance.

Another Oriental Trading craft the kids did was decorate foam picture frames. We made these several years ago at Thanksgiving. When everyone arrived, an aunt took a picture of Great-Grandma with each of her great-grandchildren. Then she ran home and printed them out while the kids decorated their frames. It was a wonderful keepsake.

Another holiday item from Oriental Trading that we love is the design-your-own Nativity Scene sticker sets. We took one to church each week of the Christmas season last year and let our toddler do it during the service.

Be sure to check out their Black Friday specials, going on now, for great stocking stuffer deals as well!
