Make Your Own Deodorant

October 24, 2018 by Kim Danger 2 Comments

Lately, there’s been a big push towards natural toiletries.  They have fewer chemicals and additives, so making your own toiletries isn’t just good for your budget, it’s good for the environment and your body.  Here are some easy DIY projects to try.  Let us know what you think!

Make Your Own Deodorant

Basic “Recipe” for DIY Deodorant:

  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp. Shea Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp. organic cornstarch
  • A Few Drops Essential Oils (optional)

Melt the shea butter and coconut oil in the microwave, in increments of 20-30 seconds until barely melted (you don’t want to burn it).  Mix in the baking soda and cornstarch.  Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to add scent.  Store in an airtight container.

Just a heads up. Some people with slightly more sensitive skin can break out in a really painful rash when using baking soda in deodorant. It’s just a good thing to know ahead of time so that if you end up with a rash, you know exactly what’s causing it!
