Seared Ahi Tuna Steak

May 14, 2015 by Kimberly Danger Leave a Comment

Don’t you just love the trifecta of good food?  Healthy, frugal and delicious?  This recipe features all three, plus another… QUICK.  You can make this in ten minute or less.  I kid you not.  While you could argue that tuna steak is not frugal, it’s still a bargain in my book at around $5 per steak.  I split it with my husband and we serve it with rice.  So compared to other things I could be eating, it’s a delicious deal.

Seared Ahi Tuna Steak

  • Black and brown sesame seeds
  • Sprinkle with sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste
  • Sesame oil
  • Serve with soy sauce (or liquid aminos) and wasabi paste

Sprinkle black and brown sesame seeds in a shallow baking dish or pie tin.  Place tuna steaks in the sesame seed mixture.  Press down gently, season with salt and pepper to taste.  Meanwhile, heat sesame oil in skillet on medium-high.  Sear on each side, for one minute.  Remove and serve immediately.
