Right now my plan is to ease into this Beach Body stuff. I know I can do it but I also know that if I dive right in, I will burn out and it will be over. So my plan is drink Shakeology and slowly change my eating habits. I’m going to check out and try the workout DVDs on my own time. I have a lot of pressures in my life and I don’t want this to be a pressure. I want it to be my choice. I think that’s one of the best ways to be successful in this. Do what’s right for you! You know yourself and your habits so turn the program into something you can achieve.
Then I’m going to try a 5 Day Clean Eating Challenge in a few weeks. After Labor Day I’m going to join a 21 Day Fix Challenge Group after Labor Day. The kiddos will be in school and I can focus on myself.
What do I really think of Shakeology?
I tried the chocolate Shakeology this morning and I have to say that the taste is OK. It reminds me of Instant Breakfast with way less sugar. Yes I’m not impressed by the taste right away. However there are a few things to keep in mind:
1. I’m a sugar addict. I really am. I have been drinking 1-2 bottles of orange Gatorade a day for about a year and a half. I have now switched to herbal iced tea with agave syrup and find that my taste buds like that and I don’t need the sugary drink anymore. However, my little taste buds won’t change overnight. I’m thinking that after awhile they will change and the shakes will taste sweeter.
2. Aside from the taste, it’s so nutritious that just can’t say no! I could try and mix up a smoothie from scratch and I won’t be able to buy or formulate anything this nutritiously dense. I want to feel healthy and I really think these are going to help.
3. There are a million ways to customize your Shakeology. My Challenge pack came with a month’s worth of recipes to upgrade my chocolate and vanilla shakes. You can also use them to make cookies and other desserts!
4. I’ve only tried 1 flavor. You can actually purchase a sample package to try all of the different flavors. I bought a chocolate/vanilla 24 packet so tomorrow I try vanilla.
I will say that I once again did not sleep well and I work out with no energy at all. I drank my shake first thing and I feel pretty good. You know that feeling when you are on vacation and you are mostly eating junk for a couple days. Then you eat a big plate of steamed broccoli and it’s like your body just craves it? Now sure if you know what it feels like, but I do. That’s kind of the same feeling I’m getting right now. My body wants this stuff.
Official Assessment: Don’t freak out or give up if you don’t fall in love with the taste right away. Give it some time and remember that you can customize in ways to work for you!
