To get into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, I taught my preschooler about leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of rainbows. ย That afternoon, when Maggie finished quiet time, she found tiny, green, leprechaun footprints leading from the door of her room.
The green footprints led her on a leprechaun hunt around the house, under a chair, even under the couch, then disappeared under a pillow where she found a pot of gold.
I used the yellow checkers from a Connect 4 game as the gold and a black measuring cup as the pot. ย I also hid a Cadbury eclair (in a gold foil wrapper) among the coins. ย As you can see, she was very excited when she discovered it!
Perhaps the leprechauns will make another quiet time visit for St. Patrick's Day!
I cut my leprechaun footprints out of green construction paper, but Somewhat Simple has a cute tutorial for making leprechaun footprints using green ink and a kid's fist.
