If you know me at all, then you know that my family loves to hike! Many of our favorite vacations in the past – and many being planned in the future – included visiting National Parks. A few years ago, we visited Bryce Canyon National Park for FREE during National Parks Week. National Parks week is one of several times during the year that visitors to Nationals Parks are not charged entrance fees.
For 2013, National Parks Week is April 22-26th. It’s not too late to plan a fee-free trip to a National Park. There are hundreds of National Parks, many of which never charge a fee.
Do you live near a National Park, Monument, Historic Site or Recreation Area? You might be surprised. Go here to find parks by State.
I hope you will take advantage of National Parks Week, or one of the other fee free days this year. There’s nothing like seeing your own backyard, and getting a great deal!
Remaining Free National Parks Days in 2013
- April 22-26 – five days during National Park Week
- August 25 – National Park Service Birthday
- September 28 – National Public Lands Day
- November 9-11 – Veterans Day weekend
If you do go, keep your eyes open for other special offers the park may be offering for National Parks Week. We got a free reusable tote bag. Also, make sure to check out the park’s Junior Ranger program (each park has their own program with different requirements). For my preschooler, this was the highlight of many of our trips.
