Christmas Traditions: Elf on the Shelf Ideas

December 4, 2011 by Kimberly Danger 2 Comments

Have you heard of the popular Elf on the Shelf  Christmas tradition?  It’s a fun way to explain how Santa comes up with his “naughty and nice” list year after year. Santa sends one of his elves to your home to watch what goes on.   Your elf then reports back to Santa at night and ends up in a different place in your home after he returns.  Memories are created because those silly elves get into lots of mischief around the house – wrapping the tree, hiding in funny places, and getting into things he shouldn’t.  Kids can’t wait to wake up each day to see what he has done! If you’ve got a mischievous Christmas elf in your home, here are some fun ideas to help inspire old-fashioned holiday fun.  Bookmark this page and keep checking back. We will be adding more photos as the season goes on and as our Christmas elf creates more holiday mischief! A HUGE thanks goes out to long-time Mommysavers member Jennifer for sharing her ideas and photos!!

Our elf was found holding a fork w/ a half eaten marshmallow on it. The fork was resting on a candle. Guess he got hungry and roasted his own marshmallow over candlelight! He also had a cup and saucer (from the kids’ play dishes) sitting next to him w/ some hot cocoa in the cup.
