Organization Tip: A Simple Way to Weed Out Excess Clothing

January 7, 2011 by Kimberly Danger 2 Comments

It’s January, and many of us have organization on the brain.   If you’re like me, it’s hard to keep your clothing organized. My closet tends to be jam-packed, and I know that I wear about 20% of my wardrobe 80% of the time.  I have my favorites, and even though I don’t wear a lot of the clothing I have, it’s hard to let it go.

This organizational tip starts with the premise that if you haven’t worn it in a year, you don’t need it.  That said, sometimes it’s hard to remember if you’ve worn something or not.  To make it easy to know, start the year by turning all the hangers in your closet to face the other direction.  As you take something out and wear it, turn the hanger back the right way.  At the end of the year, you’ll know exactly what clothing you wore and what you didn’t.
