Frugal Travel: Inexpensive Souvenirs

September 11, 2010 by Kimberly Danger Leave a Comment

How do you limit souvenir spending on family vacations?  It’s a question we posed to our readers and responses included everything from pins to t-shirts to Christmas ornaments.  At our house, the souvenir of choice is a magnet.  We have been collecting them from places we’ve traveled for many years and have built up quite a collection.  Most magnets run anywhere from $2-$6, so they fit within most every travel budget.  Our kids take turns selecting them.  We used to have them displayed on a refrigerator in the basement, but now we have them on the service door that leads to the garage.  We also purchased a map at the Dollar Store so we can check off the places we’ve been together.
