Fun with Kool-Aid

May 30, 2009 by Kimberly Danger 2 Comments

Kool-Aid Scratch and Sniff Paint

Combine 1 T unsweetened Kool-Aid mix with 1 T warm water. Repeat with different Kool-Aid mixes for different colors. Paint and let dry overnight. The next day scratch and sniff.

Kool-Aid Playdough

1 cup white flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
Packet of Kool-Aid for color and scent
1 tablespoon Oil

Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium pot. Add water food coloring and oil. Cook and stir over med. heat 3-5 minutes. Mixture will look like a gobby mess and you will be sure its not turning out but it will. When it forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn out and knead on a lightly floured surface. Store in a Ziplock or air tight container.

Painting with Puffy Paint

Prep time:10 minutes
You need: White school glue, white shaving cream, Kool-Aid, glitter

Mix equal parts of white shaving cream and white school glue. Add in various colors to create a multitude of options for projects. Use Kool-Aid to color puffy paint, as it is inexpensive, and forms bright hues. When finished, glitter can be sprinkled on top to give the project a shimmery effect. These should be laid flat to dry for 24-48 hours, depending on how thick the paint is applied.

Homemade Popsicles

Find clean plastic containers and fill with Kool-Aid or Juice. Insert a popsicle stick and freeze. See what kind of crazy shaped popsicles you can come up with.
Cost: Less than a dollar

Homemade Lip Gloss

Materials: shortening, Kool-Aid drink mix, plastic film container

Mix 1 T Kool-Aid powdered drink mix and 2 T shortening. Microwave on high 30
seconds or until it liquifies. Pour into plastic film canister. Refrigerate 20-30 minutes or until firm.
