Holiday Treat Idea: “Merry Munch” Snack Mix

December 5, 2011 by Kimberly Danger 3 Comments

holiday treats merry munch

Merry Munch is a treat that can be made at any time during the year, but it looks especially festive with the Christmas M&Ms.  Swap out with pink and red M&Ms for Valentine’s Day, pastel M&Ms at Easter, and so on.

Holiday “Merry Munch”

2 quarts popped corn
2 C. peanuts or mixed nuts
1 1/2 C. Christmas M&Ms
1 C. butter or margarine
1 1/3 C. white sugar
1/2 C. white corn syrup

Mix popcorn, peanuts and M&Ms in a large bowl. Heat butter, sugar, and corn syrup in saucepan until mixture comes to a rolling boil. Boil until comes to a light caramel color, about 15-20 minutes, stirring constantly. Take off heat and pour over popcorn mixture (avoid having it be too hot, or you’ll melt the M&Ms). Stir until popcorn mixture is well-coated. Spread mixture on a greased cookie sheet, let cool and then break into pieces.

I make this same recipe, but with Cheerios instead of the popcorn.

I’ll have to try that sometime, Pam. Sounds yummy!

I made this recipe and it was great but mine came out kind of sticky and messy.
