Homemade Playdough Recipe

September 11, 2010 by Kimberly Danger 1 Comment

PLAY DOUGH FOR KIDS
(Not To Eat)

1/2 C. salt
1 C. hot water with food coloring
1 C. flour
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 Tbsp. oil

Mix all ingredients in  a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until it makes one large clump and pulls away from the sides. Take out and knead for one minute –be careful, it will be hot! Food flavoring can also be added (peppermint, for example, creates a unique scent at Christmas time).  Store in an airtight container.  Creatively wrapped, this makes an excellent Christmas gift for your kids’ friends.

Try adding a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid to the water instead of the food coloring. It adds both scent and color to your play dough!
