Homemade Santas

December 1, 2010 by Kimberly Danger Leave a Comment

Are you looking for a fun and easy little craft to do with your little ones?  Well, if you have cotton balls around your house, you can probably make a Santa.  Here are a couple that I came up with this morning, while trying to entertain my 2 year old.  We made them both in about 15 minutes, but she played with them for hours.

Santa Cup

  • Supplies – 1 clear cup, 1 cotton ball, 2 googly eyes, glue, 1 red muffin cup, 1 Q-tip, and pink paint.
  • Directions – Turn the cup upside down.  Turn the red muffin cup upside down and glue to the bottom of the cup.  Pull apart the cotton ball to make a beard, fuzz for the Santa hat, and a top ball for the Santa hat.  Adhere in the appropriate places with glue.  Use the Q-tip and the pink paint to make cheeks and a nose.  (If you would rather, you can use your little ones pinky fingerprint to make the cheeks.)  Adhere the eyes and enjoy.

Popsicle Stick Santa

  • Supplies – 1 popsicle stick, 2 googly eyes, 1 cotton ball, glue, and red foam, construction paper, or cardboard
  • Directions – Cut the foam, paper, or cardboard in the shape of an elongated Santa hat.  Adhere to the popsicle stick.  Pull apart to cotton ball to make a Santa beard, fuzz for the edge of the Santa hat, and a little ball for the top of the Santa hat.  Adhere in the appropriate places.  Adhere the googly eyes.

**If you don’t have googly eyes, there is no need to go out and buy them.  Just use a little liquid paper and a black Sharpie to make the eyes.  That will work great.

This is the perfect idea to fill some “down time” while the kids are home for the holiday break.  For other kid-friendly crafting ideas, visit our Creative Side forum.
