How to Save Money on Starbucks Coffee

Saving Money on Starbucks Coffee

Hello there, Starbucks Addict!  Want to save a little bit of cash next time you fuel up at Starbucks?  Here are a few “perks” you should know about that will help you save some money!

How to Save Money on Starbucks Coffee

Sign up for the Starbucks Rewards program.  Register HERE.  When you use your card (or connect to the app) you’ll earn two “stars” every time you spend $1.  For every 150 “stars” you rack up, you’ll get a sweet reward.

Get the Starbucks app!  This one allows you to pay using your smartphone and rack up points which you can redeem for free drinks.

Starbucks has regular “happy hours” in which you can get some of their specialty drinks during specific hours of the day.  Sign up for the app to be notified.  They also sometimes run “holiday specials” as well.

Get freebies on your birthday via the Starbucks app or Starbucks Rewards program.  You’ll need to be signed up 30 days prior to ensure you get to take advantage of this perk.

Did you know you can get FREE in-store refills on certain drinks?  For this one, you need to pay through the app or your Starbucks Card at the same time of your visit (no leaving and coming back.  You’ll need to show them documentation of your original purchase).  Not available in the drive-thru.   Valid on brewed coffee (hot, iced, or cold brew) and tea (hot, iced, or shaken).

Split a Venti (24 oz) with a friend!  Just ask for an extra cup when you check out.

Want a smaller portion?  Know about the “secret size”.  It’s just 8 ounces, compared to Tall (12 oz.), Grande (16 oz.), and Venti (20 oz.).  You have to specifically request “the short” because it’s not on the menu.

Other Tips and Tricks for Saving on Starbucks Coffee

Starbucks addicts can fuel up at home, too – saving LOADS of money.  The same awesome coffee is available in flavor-sealed bags in ground and whole-bean varieties.  BUT – don’t buy it at Starbucks!  Shop at other retailers and supermarkets to save.

Target frequently runs a buy two, get one FREE sale on bagged Starbucks coffee like Pike Place, Verona and Breakfast Blends.  Sometimes you can score a $5 gift card when you buy three as well – keep you eye out for sales!  Combine with your 5% REDcard discount to save even more!

Look for Starbucks gift cards on resale sites like Cardpool.com where you can sometimes get them for 10% off face value.

Save $.10 when you bring your own refillable cup in to the store.  It doesn’t have to be a Starbucks cup, either -any cup will do!

Save on Starbucks coffee in K-cups, beans or bags on Amazon.com.  Plus, when you enroll for their Subscribe and Save program you save up to an additional 15%.
