Saving on Artificial Christmas Trees

December 8, 2010 by Kimberly Danger 1 Comment

Everyone probably knows that artificial Christmas trees can be found at rock-bottom prices in January after the holiday has passed.  Trees typically get marked down 50% right away, then go to 75% on up to 90% off as January progresses.  It’s a great way to shop ahead for the next Christmas season.

But what if it’s December and you’re looking for a deal on an artificial tree NOW?  You probably won’t find too many hot deals on artificial Christmas trees in the stores.  Another place to check is your local thrift store. I hit my local Salvation Army store earlier this week, and it was fully stocked with gorgeous artificial Christmas trees in varying sizes and options.   They were all in really great shape, and put together already.  Most of the larger trees were in the $25-$45 range.  Smaller trees and trees that didn’t seem to measure up in quality or caliber were much less.

Plus, our Salvation Army also runs a half price sale on certain days/times of the week to make those deals even sweeter.

You can always join your local freecycle network and ask for a used tree. I got on this year! It was prelit, and some of the lights did not work, but we just added our own lights and it looks amazing!
