Who knew the secret to making these Popeyes Chicken Biscuits was the 7-Up? They’re SO easy and delicious…not to mention frugal as well. Here’s how to make them easily at home in 20 minutes or less:
Popeyes Chicken Biscuits
- 2 C. Bisquick
- 1/2 C. 7-Up (I used Sprite)
- 1/2 C. sour cream
- 1/4 C. butter, melted
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine the Bisquick and sour cream in a mixer. Add the 7-Up and mix until the dough forms a ball. Add a little more Bisquick if necessary (I added a little more so the dough wasn’t quite so sticky).
In a 9×9 square pan, melt the butter. Separate your biscuit dough into nine equal parts and form each one into a ball. As you can see from mine pictured above, they don’t have to be perfect! Place the dough balls in the pan on top of the melted butter. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
My kids loved these biscuits! The butter makes them delicate and slightly crispy on the outsides. It’s definitely a recipe we’ll be making again.

My kids did not like the sour cream taste of these when I tried this recipe…any suggestions of something to use instead?

I don’t know. I couldn’t really even taste the sour cream. My kids didn’t realize there was sour cream in them. Maybe try a different brand of sour cream?

how about replacing with cream cheese?

Yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream. It’s even a bit healthier…although with these biscuits, who cares about that? I’m not a big fan of sour cream, even baked in, either.

Popeye’s is the only place where I can buy chicken and I know the biscuits won’t end up in the trash. I think my kids will love these.
