Simple Formula for Living: Free Printable

December 4, 2018 by Kim Danger 1 Comment

Recently while researching the internet for simple living techniques and strategies, I stumbled upon this Simple Formula for Living.  It says it originated in a Quaker newsletter, but I can’t find evidence to back that up.  If you know where it came from, let me know!

Regardless of its origin,  liked it.  So, I typed it up, created a .pdf, printed it out, and hung it on our refrigerator as a reminder of great goals to shoot for.  Most of them come pretty easily, but others… not so much.

Live beneath your means.
Return everything you borrow.
Stop blaming other people.
Admit it when you make a mistake.
Give clothes not worn in 3 years to charity.
Do something nice and try not to get caught.
Listen more, talk less.
Every day, take a 30 minute walk.
Strive for excellence, not perfection.
Be on time.
Don’t make excuses.
Don’t argue.
Get organized.
Be kind to kind people.
Be kind to unkind people.
Let someone cut ahead of you in line.
Take time to be alone.
Reread your favorite book.
Cultivate good manners.
Be humble.
Realize and accept that life isn’t fair.
Know when to keep your mouth shut.
Go an entire day without criticizing anyone.
Learn from the past.
Plan for the future.
Live in the present
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
It’s all small stuff.

Which ones come most easily for you?  Which ones are the hardest?  Comment below!  For me, being on time is pretty easy.  Getting a 30-minute walk every day, not so much.  Especially since I live in Minnesota, where it’s cold much of the year!  It’s also a great reminder that I need to go through my closet and donate what hasn’t been worn in 3 years.
