Frugal Easter Craft: Marshmallow Peeps Wreath

March 17, 2011 by Kimberly Danger 12 Comments

peeps-wreath easterEach year when Easter rolls around, I get excited to see Marshmallow Peeps back in the stores. Not particularly because I like to eat them, but because I like to get crafty with them. In years past I’ve made Easter Tree decorations from them as well as Easter Bunny S’mores in jar. They are just so cute, it’s hard not to be inspired by them. This year was no exception.  Here’s how to make a cute Easter wreath out of Bunny Peeps:

Marshmallow Peeps Wreath Supplies:

12′ floral foam wreath
5 yards satin ribbon
20-22 Marshmallow Bunny Peeps
Glue Gun

Start by wrapping your floral wreath with 4 yards of satin ribbon to cover it.  Pin into place.  To make it even more frugal, you could easily cover this with fabric strips or remnants.  Next, glue the Marshmallow Peeps onto the ribbon-covered wreath.   To hang, use 1 yard of satin ribbon.

This is one of the easiest Marshmallow Peeps crafts I’ve ever done.  From start to finish it took about 10-15 minutes.   The total cost was about $8.  Easy, peasy!

Do the Peeps ago well? Would this last until Easter if it were made now?

You can spray a shellac type thing on the peeps first. I made a pin one year with a peep bunny and shellac’d him, it was cute and lasted a few years until the dog got it. 🙂

Simple and amazing! I have been looking for ways to decorate for Easter without really decorating. This will get my creative juices flowing a little bit and make me feel a little accomplished. Thank you for sharing your ideas!

Wonderful job! I just had to “copy” and make one for myself! I used a spring green ribbon and a 12″ flat circle and it worked great. So fast and easy too! Thank you for sharing!

I was wondering if this marshmallow bunny wreath could be made differently – so the kids could actually eat them. Any ideas? Possibly, using icing to “glue” them to a table wreath.

I think it looks very nice, but what a waste of Peeps. If they pinned them on or fastened them some other way at least you can eat them after the get a little hard.
