Elf on the Shelf Ideas for Arrival

Have your elf spell out, “I”m Back!” with red and green M&Ms, marshmallows, Christmas Hershey’s Kisses or other festive candies.

Your elf can arrive with a simple handwritten letter.  Or, try one of our printable elf letters including an elf arrival letter.

This elf arrived in a “hot air balloon” crafted out of holiday balloons and a small basket.  This would be so easy to recreate with a dollar store helium balloon, some gift wrap ribbon and a basket you already have at home.  Photo Credit:  BalloonsbyBoo

This elf arrives with a mini Christmas tree (you can get them at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or other craft stores) and a holiday card.

If you have a toy car, jeep, truck, airplane or train… have the elf arrive in style.  This one is driving Barbie’s car.
