Last Saturday, my family and I attended a fun event in New York City sponsored by Kmart’s Playdate Place. It was the first-ever play date hosted by Kmart, but hopefully not the last! There were wonderful toys for everyone to play with, great snacks, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather (OK, it was a little on the hot side – but as a Minnesotan I’ve learned to NEVER complain about hot weather). My kids had a blast — literally — the Nerf Dart Tag was a definite hit with my 7-year-old and is now on his birthday wish list!
I got to meet lots of other bloggers as well: Liz from This Full House, Ronnie and Lamar from Black and Married with Kids, and Brad from Dad Labs. Also in attendance were kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem. My son, Nicholas, as well as my biggest “kid” Scott, loved playing ball with them – they’re amazing! Sydney had fun hula-hooping and helping out the younger kids.
In this video, I talk a little bit about how Mommysavers was started — as well as what Playdate Place is all about. I’ve been sharing my tips there for several months now, and if you haven’t yet taken a peek at it you’re missing out. Not only will you find suggestions and ideas on how to create fun play dates for less, you’ll see play date “Perks” like valuable offers and deals on some of the toys Kmart.com has to offer as well as contests and giveaways.
Also, don’t forget to sign up for the Kmart Birthday Club. Your child will get a $5/$25 coupon to use during their birthday month, a birthday crown, and a birthday fun pack full of surprises!
