For this week’s Muffin Tin Meal, I decided to do an Animal Food theme. I picked different foods we had around the house that animals like to eat. Then, I made some homemade animal picks, and let Maggie match up the animal picks with the foods they eat.
Making the homemade picks was easy. I doodled little animal drawings, then cut them out. Then I taped them flat against a toothpick. After I drew a little rabbit and chicken, I realized I had rabbit and chick picks leftover from one of our Easter muffin tin meals, so we used those instead.
Our Animal Foods muffin tin meal consisted of:
- Honey and peanut butter sandwich (Winnie-the-Pooh)
- Cheese cubes (mouse)
- Corn (chick)
- Peanuts (elephant)
- Carrot sticks (rabbit)
She ate everything but half of the sandwich. I am very happy I was able to get her to eat the cheese cubes.
The elephant pick threw her off. I guess I can’t blame her. The last time we were at the zoo she fed bananas to an elephant and there were no bananas in her muffin tin.

Your handmade picks are precious. I love house you linked each one to a food the animal would normally eat. Very clever my dear!

I loved that you used the foods the animals would eat rather than just animal shaped food. Can’t believe I never thought of that. Thanks for the inspiration!
