This week’s Muffin Tin Meal theme is Red or Valentine’s Day. I took my preschooler with me to the grocery store and we browsed the produce section together. We picked out everything red we found: apples, a pomegranate, and a beet. Not even any strawberries!
I also served the rice dish we were having for dinner, and picked out a few pink conversation hearts candies.
Maggie has tried pomegranate seeds before and didn’t like them. I was pleased that she voluntarily tried them again, even though she didn’t eat them all. Little Brother had no problem gobbling up the rest. She also tried the beets, but didn’t like those either. Can’t say I blame her…
Muffin Tin Meal tip: If you’re using an actual metal muffin pan, warms foods may heat up the surrounding cold foods.
Muffin Tin Meals are still an exciting new thing for us. Maggie is enjoying seeing new foods in her tin each week and I’m enjoying seeing her put food in her mouth of her own accord, and being willing to try new things.

What a great idea to take your little one to the produce section and let them pick out all things a certain color. I will have to do this for one of the colored themed weeks. Thanks for sharing!

I find that if I include her in choosing a new food, or preparing the food, she eats more, or at least tries it!
