Southern-Style Pulled Pork with Root Beer
– 2-3 lbs. pork tenderloin
– 1 can of Barq’s Root Beer (or any brand really, I just love Barq’s!)
– 1 bottle BBQ sauce (I avoid sweet sauce because the root beer makes the pork sweet already)
Directions:
Put pork and root beer in Crock Pot. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Pull apart with two forks and put back into Crock Pot. Mix pork and BBQ sauce thoroughly and serve. I hope you love this Southern-style pulled pork recipe as much as I do!

I’ve never been able to get a moist pulled pork tenderloin. I have always had to use the pork butt. I will have to try this recipe next time.

I am interested in trying out your Southern Style Pulled Pork recipe. Thanks! I had a question about it. You mentioned that once you cook the root beer and pork in the crock pot, you pull it apart with a fork. Once you put the pork back into the crock pot, do you empty out the root beer at that point? Or does it stay in the pot with the pork and BBQ Sauce?
Thanks,
Dana

Dana, it depends. If I am freezing it (which I did here) then yes, I leave the root beer in the crock pot, but if I am serving it immediately then I drain about 2/3s of the mixture into a mixing cup to add back in if the pork needs some juice later.

While this isn’t really southern style in the true Barbeque sense, it’s a darn fine crock pot “cheater” que method to follow! We love Barq’s Root Beer!
