Weekly Menu Planning Method #1: iPhone Calendar App

January 20, 2014 by Susie Chadwick 1 Comment

wonton chicken salad

When it comes to creating a weekly menu plan, I just plan dinners. We usually eat leftovers for lunch, or I make up some pasta to eat with jarred spaghetti sauce.  Other quick lunches include sandwiches or tortillas.

Weekly Menu Plan 1/20-1/26

Monday: Wonton Chicken Salad, potstickers

Tuesday: Turkey Dinner

Wednesday: Beef Broccoli in the Crock Pot

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Waffles, fruit

Saturday: Hot dogs, fruit, chips

Sunday: Crock Pot Beef Tips, egg noodles, brown sugar carrots

Weekly Menu Planning Method #1:  iPhone Calendar App

There are lots of weekly meal planning apps available, some free, some not. I have tried a few different apps, but what I like best is using my iPhone calendar for menu planning. I add the meal to a separate calendar with its own color.  Here’s how:

  • Open your iPhone calendar app
  • Under Calendars, Click “Edit”
  • Next, click “Add Calendar”
  • Assign a name and color to your Menu Plan

Then I can select only that calendar on my phone and tap on the “search” icon to see all the meals I have planned for the week. Or, I can view all calendars and make sure I’m not planning a complicated dinner on a night my kids have an activity.

I have an IPhone 4 and it won’t allow me to ‘add a calender’ is there something I am doing wrong?
