Muffin Tin Monday: Muffin Cup Tree

February 7, 2011 by Susie Chadwick 6 Comments

There was no theme for this week’s Muffin Tin Monday. Skimommy posted recently about creative ways to feed her picky eater, so I decided to try using my muffin cups in different ways.

First, I used a muffin cup to hold some homemade hummus. I cut up some homemade pita bread into perfect triangles using scissors, and also added some carrot sticks. Looks good, doesn’t it? And my preschooler loves to dip food.

Unfortunately, even a cute presentation wouldn’t get Maggie to eat more than one bite of the hummus in her Muffin Tin Meal. When I came back out of the kitchen, she’d put the muffin cup on her brother’s tray. He was using a carrot as a spoon to eat the hummus. At least someone liked it!

For dinner, I made a muffin cup tree with an apple slice trunk. As I mentioned, Maggie likes to dip food, so I kept her pasta and sauce separately. She also got pineapple chunks. Oddly enough, she didn’t even touch the apple slices, usually her favorite, but she ate all of everything else.

Although some supplies are required, making Muffin Tin Meals for your kids doesn’t have to be expensive.  Check out Kim’s post, Saving Money on Muffin Tin Meals.  For more muffin tin meal ideas, see Skimommy’s picky eater post, and the other link-ups at Muffin Tin Mom.

Wilton Flower Silicone muffin cups are available on Amazon.com.

Sometimes there are things I am sure JDaniel will eat and they just don’t go over as I planned. I would eat all of your meal in a heartbeat.

I love the tree! Great idea on separating the pasta & sauce. My oldest is a dipper and would probably like that.

My girls are doing the same thing with leaving an old favorite and gobbling up the rest. It is magic.
