Look at All the Clean Eating Food I Bought for $41 (No Clipping Coupons)

August 12, 2015 by Bekah 1 Comment

41 Dollars in Clean Eating Food

I know I huge concern with clean eating is, can I do it on a budget?  Yes you can!  It’s true that sometimes healthier food does cost more.  However it does go on sale just like everything else.  So when it does, stock up!  Plus some things might surprise you.  For example, did you know that turkey bacon and ground turkey generally cost less than regular pork bacon and ground beef?  The truth is that at the regular store price, you can save $1-$1.50 per pound.

I wanted to share my trip to the grocery store for completely clean eating 21 Day Fix approved food.  I spent $41 on everything pictured above.  Plus, I didn’t clip any coupons.  There were a couple store coupons I found in the weekly ad.  However I did NOT spend time printing and clipping at all.  I did happen to come upon a couple really great sales.  The OPI ranch dressing (on the Clean Eating Dressings List) was on sale for $2.29 (reg. $3.99).  The wheat pasta was all $.88 each (reg. $1.49).  So as you can see I stocked up on both of those items.

Here is my full grocery list of everything I bought:

  • 5 lb bag of apples
  • 16 oz bag of salad mix
  • 2 bags of carrots
  • 4 avocados
  • 3 mangos
  • 4 plum tomatoes
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 purple onion
  • 1 bunch of cilantro
  • 1 small can of green chilis (I think this is clean eating…it’s chilis, salt, water, and citric acid)
  • 3 jars of OPI greek yogurt ranch dressing
  • 1 32 oz container of plain greek yogurt (it’s my new sour cream and base for cream sauces)
  • 2 12 oz packages of turkey bacon
  • 6 boxes of 100% whole wheat pasta
  • 1 bag of whole wheat egg noodles

As you can see, it’s not an entire week’s worth of food.  I mean it could be, but there are obviously some holes.  I bought these items to fill in with the eggs, wheat bread, and other food that I already have.  This food is also not just for me.  It’s for my family too.  I’ll be lucky if I get 2-3 of those apples before they are gone!

There you have it! I woman with half a plan, no clipped coupons, and 2 distracting little girls managed to walk into a grocery store and buy an array of healthy clean eating food for $41!.

*FYI:  The grocery store I went to is a north eastern chain called GIANT Foods.  It’s comparable to Smiths, Safeway, Fry’s, Smiths, or any other chain near you.
