Powdered Sugar Dainties

December 10, 2018 by Kim Danger 2 Comments

Powdered Sugar Dainties

This Christmas Cookie recipe comes from my grandmother.    I grew up eating them, my mom still makes them and I also make them every year.  It wouldn’t be Christmas without them.  They’re super-simple, and only have a few simple ingredients, most of which I typically always have on hand.  I’ve seen them called Mexican Wedding Cakes, Russian Tea Cakes, Snowball Cookies, Butterballs and Pecan Dainties.

Powdered Sugar Dainties Ingredients:

  • 1 C. (two sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 C. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine all the ingredients above to make a dough.  Roll the dough into 1″ balls.  Place on a cookie sheet, and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the balls start to become golden brown.  Remove from the oven.  Once cool enough to touch but still warm, roll the balls in powdered sugar.  Allow to cool completely.

Have you had these before?  What do you call them?  Comment below!

These are my FAVORITE!!!! I can’t make them anymore, because I eat every single one of them lol. I swear, they call my name even when I’m sleeping saying: “EAT ME, EAT ME”

The struggle is real, for sure… I’ve already had way too many and I just made them yesterday! 🙂
