Decorating Easter Hard-Boiled Eggs: Crackled Effect

March 14, 2012 by Kimberly Danger 3 Comments

Looking for a new method of decorating Easter eggs?  This one is simple, doesn’t require fancy dye, and looks fabulous!  While these won’t work for your child’s Easter basket, the eggs look gorgeous on any Easter table (either deviled or plain) and the shells can be saved and used as a pretty Easter decoration.

Crackled Easter Eggs

  • After you’ve hard-boiled your eggs, crack the shell without peeling it.
  • Drop each egg into a sandwich-sized plastic bag, and squirt a couple drops of food coloring in it.  Make sure they’re completely covered.
  • Add a few drops of vinegar (it will set the color).  Leave the eggs in the bags for about half an hour.
  • Peel carefully, but keep the shells!  The shells are very pretty and can be used later.
