Vacation During the 21 Day Fix

September 12, 2015 by Bekah Leave a Comment

Here is my latest challenge.  We are driving to the beach from today (Thursday) until Saturday.  It’s only about 3 hrs away and we have been planning this trip with my parents before I planned on doing the 21 Day Fix.  I don’t want to stress myself out but I also don’t want to go back to bad habits either.  I’m trying to change my way of thinking about food and I don’t want to lose momentum.

I also don’t believe in “cheat days.”  I don’t believe in eating crap all day.  I believe in “cheat meals.”  My plan is to stick to clean eating as much as possible.  I’m not going to be doing my container counts for those three days because I want to enjoy myself.  There are refrigerators in our hotel rooms so I intend to utilize those.  I’m also going to pack a lot for foods that I like to eat:

  • dried banana chips
  • avocado
  • Greek yogurt
  • clean eating granola bars
  • string cheese
  • cottage cheese
  • celery
  • peanut butter
  • carrots
  • clean eating ranch dressing
  • gallon of pre-made herbal iced tea

I’m also going to try to eat well while eating out.  For example, there is a free hotel breakfast.  I’m going to stick to scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, whole wheat cereal, and fruit.

For lunches and dinners:  sandwiches on whole wheat bread, small steak with veggies as both sides, etc.

I’m also going to follow some of these tips for Traveling During the 21 Day Fix.

I’m not however going to deny myself homemade donuts and salt water taffy, I’m just going to be smart about it stick to one donut and a few pieces of taffy (molasses…yum my favorite!)

Another cool thing is that we are going to Dewey Beach, Delaware.  It’s private with more condos and hotels than public beaches.  Our favorite public beach is a mile north.  So I plan on walking/running up to the boardwalk, and then doing the same back.  What a great way to get in a morning workout!

Wish me luck!

*UPDATE:  I did ok.  It’s REALLY hard to stay on track when you are on vacation with kids.  We were just so busy all the time and constantly on-the go.  That made it harder to me to eat all of my little meals.  Plus the kids were up late and up early so Chris and I were tired.  We had fun but it was NOT relaxing at all!  We have been home for a day and gearing up for the week.  It’s my last week of my first round of my 21 Day Fix and I plan on going out strong.
