Halloween Spider Cookies with Reese’s Candies and Wilton Candy Eyes
These Halloween Cookies are easy to make, and the Wilton Candy Eyes make them SOOOO cute! You start with a basic peanut butter cookie recipe, adding chocolate spider legs, Reese’s miniature candies and candy eyes to form the spider.
Peanut Butter Cookie Instructions:
- 1/2 C. butter, softened (one stick)
- 1/2 C. peanut butter
- 1/2 C. brown sugar
- 1/2 C. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 C. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- sugar to roll cookie balls (about 1/4 cup)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, sugar, milk, vanilla and egg. Beat well. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda and salt) together. Incorporate into the wet ingredients until a dough is formed. Roll the dough into 1″ balls. Roll each ball in the sugar, and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
For the Candy Spider Part of the Cookie:
- 24 Reese’s miniature candies
- 48 Wilton Candy Eyes
- 1/2 bag chocolate chips
- 1 tsp. liquid coconut oil to thin (or vegetable oil)
While the cookies are baking, remove the wrappers from the Reese’s miniature candies. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, in 20-second increments to avoid scorching. Thin the chocolate with a little bit of coconut oil if needed. Place the melted chocolate in a Wilton Cake Decorating Bag or a quart-sized Ziplock bag with the tip cut off to pipe the chocolate lines.
Once the Cookies are Baked:
Once you remove the cookies from the oven, you have to act quickly to make the spider part. Make sure your piping bag is ready to go! Pipe three lines that intersect in the middle to form the six spider legs. Next, place the Reese’s Miniature candy in the center. You’ll want the cookies to still be warm when placing the candy on top, so act quickly.
Lastly, I placed the Wilton Candy Eyes on the Reese’s candy. To do that, I used a toothpick to put a little bit of the melted chocolate on the candy to secure the eyes. Then, I popped them in the freezer right away to set the chocolate (you don’t need to freeze the cookies, just cool them down quickly to prevent the chocolate from melting).
