The holiday season is the traditional time of year when sugary, fattening, and unhealthy foods are plentiful.  This year I plan on saving my “cheats” and fattening calories on select holiday treats, rather than fattening up my side dishes.  Here are several clean eating sides dishes that are healthy and flavorful.  You won’t even miss the butter, fat, and sugar that traditionally are used to make some of these sides.

Clean Eating Parmesan Roasted Potatoes:  These potatoes are filling and full of flavor from onions, garlic, and parmesan cheese.

Clean Eating Roasted Brussel Sprouts:  If you think you don’t like Brussel sprouts, reserve judgement until you try these! If you like broccoli, cabbage, and asparagus, you will like this recipe.

Clean Eating Roasted Acorn Squash:  Acorn squash has a taste that is very similar to pumpkin.  This recipe tastes so similar to pumpkin pie and tastes more like a dessert than side dish.

Arugula Salad with Goat Cheese and Blueberries:  Try this flavorful take on a traditional salad. You could probably substitute the blueberries for seasonal apples.

Clean Eating Mashed Potatoes:  This recipe is so good that you can’t even tell it’s low fat at all!

Clean Eating Glazed Carrots:  These are so sweet and delicious that you won’t even miss the unnecessary butter and brown sugar.

Grilled Foil Packet Broccoli:  This recipe can be made on the grill or in the oven.  It’s the best way ever!

Baked Cauli-Tots:  These “Tater-Tots” are great for kids and adults alike.  They are made with cauliflower and baked in the oven.  That means they are low fat and full of nutrients.
